 Lake Taupo, New Zealand’s largest lake offer great ways of flyfishing the famous trout. Start at the nearby rapids - a unique feature of the power generation system on the Waikato River. Continue onwards and you can stop to visit the mighty Huka Falls on the Waikato River. At the southern end of lake Taupo the River is a world famous fishery attracting visitors from all around the world each year. A large flow of water running over a boulder base. This is believed to be the biggest number of spawning fish of any river in the world.

 The coastal waters of the Bay of Islands offer the angler some of the finest sportfishing in the world. From ultra-light tackle to heavy tackle, most current IGFA world records for Striped Marlin and Southern Yellowtail Kingfish are held here, together with those for many other species.
